The U.S. in Iraq

I'm not one of those who supports a U.S. military presence in Iraq.

& IF I had doubts (which I don't), these Reuters pictures further bolstered my stance.

I wonder at the outrage.
Could it be because it was - gasp - Bush and a Republican Administration seized the moral high ground and decided to intervene to remove one of the most murderous tyrants of the late 20th century?
(Would the outrage have been quite so great had Clinton intervened? Not that there was ever any chance of that, as people in the Balkans and Rwanda could affirm. Or would afifrm if only they were still alive to do so.)

Or is the outrage because removing Saddam is not worth any American blood (a point of view I'm sure the Iraqis would be happy to debate.)

Interesting, is it not, how the isolationism of hardline, conservative, Republicans - at least until December 7, 1941 - has now been adopted by the supposed liberal left.

Dorf: The outrage, at least from my side, is over America's long time presence there. They took out Saddam four years ago. And a workable plan for getting out still seems elusive...
